There are 3 routes to become a Specialty Instructor

Seminar

• Successfully complete the Specialty Instructor Seminar for the applicable course

Co-Teaching

• Successfully co-teach at least one complete speciality course
• Have at least 10 logged dives in the applicable specialty

Verification / Application

• Have proof of at least 20 logged dives in the applicable specialty or provide proof of experience (non-diving specialties)
